Church In Urgent Need Of Repairs

Over the years, the beautiful St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belmont - which is on the Heritage Asset Inventory - the official list of Trinidad and Tobago’s historic sites that are worthy of notation and preservation - has developed a number of structural problems ranging from termite infestation to porous walls and a faulty roof.  In fact, so great was the problem that the building was deemed unsafe, and in December 2010, tents were put up in the churchyard and there is where the parish community has been celebrating all of its sacraments and religious ceremonies.

Thanks be to God for the benefactors of St. Francis, Belmont, a Pastoral Center was constructed so that we no longer had to be celebrating the Holy Eucharist under tents. This was completed in time for the Easter celebrations of 2014. The parish continues on its drive to raise the much-needed funds

The parish community has been actively engaged in a number of fundraising events, all geared towards initiating the much-needed repairs to this national icon.
